who is James Lovelock?

: who is James Lovelock?
James Lovelock is a maverick British scientist who has been warning us of Global Warming and Climate Change since before a lot of us were born or at least could read. His main theory on the Earth is called Gaia Theory, CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ON GAIA THEORY

James first espoused his theories as early as 1965 and unfortunately for all of us he feels our recent awareness of, and steps to prevent, Global Warming and Climate Change are too little too late; and we may as well enjoy life while we can.

Here are some links to the man himself, some of his articles and his theories.

Well Louie it seems that some in the scientific community are starting to suggest that we're at the threshold of another ice age; the only consensus I have with them is that I am convinced that something with the sun's solar cycles is causing change or Mars and other planets have taken leave of their ever orbiting minds. James Lovelock seems like a charming gentleman, with a quite wacky and wrong theory. He is rather consistent though. He is willing to switch 100-percent to nuclear energy in order to appease Mother Earth phobia of CO2. I have to give him credit for that, at least he practices what he preaches, he wants to do the right thing.

Who IS James Lovelock, I actually think everyone is wrong but that does not mean we should not be doing something about it, much more than we are, why don't the fools rush in.

I'm with Katyzz - why don't the fools rush in? I also suscribe to the view that it's never too late - we should keep working at it until the waves close over our heads

Louie,

Oh this one is a killer for me, because those same scientists that denounce James' Gaia theory ... are the same basterdised breed to come up with the 'tipping point" theory - which just makes me want to gag, because you can't tip anything beyond the point of it being able to adjust, if it isn't living in the first place.

Oh come on people, put it together ... great links to raise awareness Louie,

great Post.

Theories are just that, theories, someones best factually based guess.

Me, in the face of global warming I don't panic, I don't run or duck for cover and won't until I'm treading water above Mt. Everest.

Until then, Louie, keep sounding the alarm and I'll man the pumps, because I like it here on planet earth, and earth loves me-we share a mutual bond. However, when she (Gaia) shrugs, it's time to panic. So, if you see me running past you with a parachute and a huge air tank, get nervous. Raven

I bet she is. No worries L, the seeds have been planted ...

I'm sure she will get to it, meanwhile i'm onto the other useless 'rock star' about other things.

No one it seems has a bad word to say about Professor James ..but is there some kind of mass hypnosis going on?

The mad genius professor stole Mother Earth from indigenous people ( who have always known her as a living entity) and sold her back as a false greek goddess called 'Gaia.' In his book of the same name in the 1970's he turned environmentalism on its head by asserting that 'pollution is as natural to Gaia as cow dung.' In those heady days of the oil boom he also berated ecologists for delaying the Alaskan oil pipleline.
Now he berates the Navajo for wanting to prevent further uranium mining....for James it is a case of technophiliac business as usual. We need another prophet not business profit as usual.
