who is Ausra? and what can they do for you?
Ausra is a Solar Thermal Tech company based in the USA. This week they released a report stating the case that Solar Thermal power generation in the US has the potential to provide 90 percent of the U.S. grid with power, yes 90 percent. Furthermore if people were to switch to electric cars this would take a further 13 million barrels of oil per day out of the equation, this people is 15 percent of Global Oil demand.
Now of course they have an agenda to promote their product to get investors but these numbers people are HUGE, they completely negate the Nuclear argument and figures I have been hoping we would see for a long time.
Here are links to the Ausra Web Site and the Report as well as a summary for time challenged people like me.
It is worth a read, this is the future and it is exciting. If only Australia had of been able to keep the Technology rather than US Venture Capitlaists owning it now, but its all one world, I guess. Here's hoping business recognises our intellectual capital and keeps it here in the future.
cheers

Unfortunately I have reached the conclusion we will only help the planet when it means we help ourselves, so however they gift wrap it i don't mind, we need it!!!

A planned phase out of our existing power infrastructure will occur when it becomes profitable to do so. Raven
