I have some questions

:
I have some questions
I was reminded last night by an Ad on TV that there are three main contibutors to carbon emissions in the world, one of them being Methane produced by the Dairy Cattle we eat for food. This particular Ad was appealing to peeople to become Vegetarians, something the UN also touched on in a report last year CLICK HERE TO READ MY POST ON IT.
I am not sure I could EVER go totally Veg, but let's say for arguments sake I relented, and decided for the good of the planet I would give up my beloved meat. This lead to a series of questions...
What would happen if we all decided to go Veg?
Would I solve one problem by creating another?
Is there enough fish in the world for all of us to eat more Fish?
What would happen to all the cows?
Could they grow enough Vegetables/ Legumes etc for all of us to eat a balanced diet without meat?
Can you grow crops where Beef cattle roam?
Do we have to stop drinking milk too?
Can I still eat Chicken?
Have the Prime Minister, Penny Wong and all their Global counterparts stopped eating meat?
Does Pork count?
Does Lamb count?
Would McDonalds make a Vegetarian version of the Big Mac for us?
I don't know the answers to these questions, I will endeavour to find them, maybe some Orblers can help.
cheers
Louie

Firstly, animals are bred specifically for human consumption and kept in captivity until it is their time to be eaten.
Secondly, an enormous amount of land is used to grow vegetation to feed that livestock that will eventually be our food. So, yeah, that land can then be used for growing crops for human consumption.
Going vegetarian is probably the single best thing you can do for the planet.
Not that I'm telling you to do so...just saying that it is.

Yes I do believe going Veg looks like the best way, this post is a launch pad for me to actually do some checking into the unintended consequences of this.
I guess the whole Biofuel thing has freaked me out. My questions stem from nagging thoughts at the back of my mind like the problem of over fishing etc .... it was also meant to be a little light hearted hence the questions as opposed to any statements.
i have on my list tomorrow a cyber visit to the UN website to gather more info.
been a long hard day
cheers

And i do have one friend who insists that if we all stopped eating meat there will be too many animals roaming around...she always points to the excess cows in India.
I read about all that stuff I mentioned years ago but I will chase it up.

weeeeeelll,
all animals fart.. including us!!!
Except the Queen, who does not!
So, solution..
WE ALL BECOME QUEENS INCLUDING THE COWS AND KOALAS AND STUFF!!! teee heeee!!!
Regrettably, the ONLY WAY I see it is possible for us to maintain a healthy diet, (which includes some protein) and also save the planet, is depopulation, massively and quickly!!
More regrettably, think tanks in America since the 60's, including the Pentagon, think this is the best way to save the world, as over population, which is what we have today, is going to prove a global killer no matter what we do, vegan or no vegan!!
Besides, it is all a moot point, if the Mayans are right!!
See you at the
"Kiss Yah Ass Goodbye Orble Party on December 20th 2012!!!
cheeeeeeersssss!!!

Your blog reminded me of that ad with Sam Neill that taught us all if it wasn't for our red meat consumption then we'd still be all swimming in the seas, or swinging in the trees or something. Certainly not intelligent enough to be able to debate its merits, that's for sure.

Sorry, I see cow and I see a walking fillet steak and garlic mash. Ooh and Ice cream. Moo.
If we were meant to be solely vego or carnivore we would have had different teeth. We are omnivores and I'm OK with that. If a shark or lion gets me and makes me an entree then that's OK too. It's the circle of life...

hehehe... yes we can Louie gurrlish... all we need is a really BIG WAND..ahem...well maybe I NEED a really BIG wand.. sigh!!
And anyhoo, everyone's baaiiitchin' already, so I say the more the merrier!
And at least gay bitching is witty!! (ok, so some hetero exceptions to every rule exist!)
As for the cows, why not attach a gas collector, or converter to the cows' backsides? An expandable bag, so every time they are milked, it is pumped into a tank?
Ok, so we don't milk bulls... well.. not as often and for a different purpose, so maybe the bulls and steers can have a gas converter?
THERE!! SOLVED!!!
GIMME ANOTHER PROBLEM!!!
cheers

P.S.
Louie, we could start a new movement:
COFFS
Cows Odorous Flatulence Filtering Society
Then the cows could form their own group;
FARC
Flatulence Abstinent Recovering Cows

Turtle farms are rampant in the Cayman Islands, because turtle is their main meat source and it was becoming extremely limited in the sea.
Fish farms abound here in the U.S., mostly to provide meat for restaurants and supermarkets.
Know what a big advantage of fish farms is? You have a lot more control over what goes into the water--unlike our beloved oceans and lakes, which some asswipes seem to regard as their own personal toilets and/or dumping grounds.
There are also lobster and shrimp and prawn farms, ostrich farms, and oyster farms.
Take heart, Louie--farming our fish supply instead of catching it out of the ocean means everybody wins--we get enough fish, the oceans/lakes/rivers get a chance to recover, and the farmed fish is from a cleaner and more controlled environment.
