Growing Green in the Winter
August 24th 2009 21:29
There are some foods that will grow just fine in the colder temperatures of the winter months. Turnips, collard greens and kale are all great for the waistline and expensive in the stores. These foods are healthy and resilient.
Did You Know?
You can even plant these vegetables in a pot and sit them in the window if the temperatures are too cold for the seeds to sprout. The crop will not be as hearty, but the food is free and great for Mother Earth.
Other popular choices for Green Winter Gardening include herbs, tomatoes and potatoes. The sunlight paired with the warmth of the house is almost as good as being outside. If the plants need a bit of sun time, try sitting them in direct sunlight during the warmest part of the day.
