Should we care about the WHY?

January 4th 2008 00:20
: Does Climate change really matter?
I am going on Holidays yay....

I would like to leave with this question, as always apologies if I am preaching to the converted, and i know I have made this point before; but recent events lead me to re-express this view.

Does Climate Change really matter? Let's face it the marketing machine behind Climate Change has done the job, they have convinced a) the man in the street and most importantly B) the money men that Climate Change exists and needs to be addressed.

What does this mean in reality? Well to me it means that the man in the street now thinks a little harder before they damage the environment AND it means the money men are going to invest GLOBALLY in renewable energy and the likes, as there is now a system in place (Carbon Credits) where economics and helping the environment can walk hand in hand - first time in history.

The way I see it, if people are now helping the environment, DOES IT REALLY MATTER? [B]

Hi Louie,

Enjoy your holiday.

As long as no-one is exploited along the way, which let's face it is more than likely when it comes to the money men, then I don't care how they sell climate change as long as they sell it.

I just read an article today on smh.com.au. Here are the opening 2 paragraphs.

IT MAY be time to stop describing south-eastern Australia as gripped by drought and instead accept the extreme dry as permanent, one of the nation's most senior weather experts warned yesterday.

"Perhaps we should call it our new climate," said the Bureau of Meteorology's head of climate analysis, David Jones
.

Love & stuff

It probably isn't the mostly urgent matter to matter but I guess like everything else it depends on who you talk to.

Perhaps the person who haven't eaten for two days would be more worried about his/her health rather than emitting a little too much green house gases.

The person who has just lost their job would be more worried about what to do tomorrow and what to tell their wives/husbands.

But all in all, it's something we should all keep in mind of, and slowly do things about rather than something we should put our whole hearts into it (unless of course, your job IS to stop the climate change. Like a scientist or something)

My 2 cents

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! It's always so exciting going on holidays. You'll have to tell us tales.

Happy Hols, Louie..

As a diehard pragmatist, I don't really care why it's done, so long as it gets done.

But are people doing enough? And will we all become complacent? And will we all think that everyone else is doing their bit? Has the message really got through to everyone? Sadly I don't think it has yet. A very thoughtful post.
